Description:
Responsibility for coordinating legal support for regional operations in states within the Mid-America Region composed of IL, IN, Iowa, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, OK, SD and WI. Responsibility for client relations and client satisfaction for areas supported. Key responsibilities include: 1) key legal resource for the Local Market Presidents; 2) advising clients with respect to the application of statutes and regulations to the Company's business activities; 3) establishing constructive regulatory relationships and representing the Company in proceedings with state regulators and other administrative forums; 4) seeking non-litigation resolution of disputes arising in the region; 5) supporting provider contracting activities; 6) providing legal, public policy, and as appropriate, business counseling with respect to new and existing business activities; 7) assisting in obtaining legal/regulatory authorization to carry on the new and existing business activities of the Company; 8) seeking to improve the legal and regulatory environment in which the Company operates and the Company's relationships with state regulations, including drafting and commenting on proposed legislation; 8) serving as a resource to other lawyers in the Law Department with respect to matters of state law.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading role in the delivery of legal counseling to WEB executives and their teams on a broad range of complex legal, business, and strategic issues, including issues related to intellectual property protection and licensing, interoperability and standards, and applicable regulatory frameworks. This position includes responsibility for coordinating with internal and external legal and non-legal expert resources, as necessary, to drive the analysis and resolution of relevant issues.

Lead counselor for the support of WEB development, marketing and distribution programs, including primary responsibility for negotiating and drafting agreements pertaining to inbound and outbound licensing, provision of services, and collaboration with partners.

Managing and delivering education and training to the WEB development and marketing organizations on relevant legal issues.

Working with the other attorneys and paralegals on the WEB legal team to provide comprehensive legal services to all levels of the supported businesses, including development of process-related improvements to facilitate and increase the efficiency of legal services.

Qualifications:
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials.
4+ years experience as a practicing commercial attorney is required.
6+ years as a practicing commercial attorney with experience in intellectual property counseling, licensing and transactions is preferred.
Experience with copyright, trademark, interoperability, standards, advertising and/or regulatory counseling is preferred.
Outstanding analytical, writing and oral communication skills, as well as strong record of effective collaboration across distinct legal and business groups.
Sound and practical business judgment, ability to think strategically, and desire to establish a “trusted advisor” relationship with executives and key business clients.

Position Summary: Located in the Integrated Service Center (ISC) and working under the supervision of the Director of the Special Education Unit of the Office of Legal Services, the Special Education Unit Attorney engages in difficult and complex legal work having significant financial, procedural or policy consequences.

Reports to: Director of the Special Education Unit of the Office of Legal Services

Key Relationships: The Special Education Attorney works closely with the ISC Special Education staff, including the Committee on Special Education, and the staff in the Office of Legal Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Prepares for and/or tries complex cases involving significant precedents, novel and complicated determinations of law and fact, or having significant legal, policy or financial implications for the Department of Education.
    * Determines the advisability of presenting witnesses as well as the admissibility of types of evidence and matters of legal strategy.
    * Provides training for the ISC staff and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) clinical staff on compliance with federal and state education laws and regulations.
    * Confers with special education specialists, technical experts, and other attorneys, including counsel for litigants.
    * Negotiates and implements the settlement of special education claims.
    * Conducts legal investigations; administers meetings to confer with the ISC and CSE impartial hearings teams and clinical staff to discuss pending special education claims and other ISC and CSE special education-related matters.
    * Prepares and argues difficult cases and appeals in administrative tribunals and in the courts.
    * Reviews, revises and approves agreements prepared by other attorneys.
    * Analyzes, studies and reports on the effects of city, state and federal legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

    * Admission to the New York State Bar AND two (2) years of progressively responsible United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any State Bar.

NOTE: Selected candidates must remain members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of their employment.

Preferred

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    * Ability to understand provisions of applicable laws and regulations.
    * Ability to write clearly and concisely.
    * Litigation experience.
    * Efficient legal research skills.

Salary: $67,851+

Corporate Counsel for Privacy

Job Summary:
This position reports to the Privacy Officer at T-Mobile.  This position will assist in monitoring and interpreting federal and state privacy laws, including CPNI, HIPAA. ECPA, breach laws and other privacy-related laws and regulations to ensure company compliance. This position will help implement best practices for protection of customer, employee, vendor and company information.  This position will work with marketing, sales, engineering, IT, product development and other business units to ensure that customer information gathered by T-Mobile is collected, stored, used and/or shared in compliance with privacy policies and applicable laws.

The Corporate Counsel for Privacy will be responsible for ensuring that customer focused promotions, products and services are aligned with T-Mobile's privacy policies and applicable privacy laws. This position will partner with security personnel in IT to understand internal systems and identify appropriate privacy/security measures necessary to protect the personal information of customers and employees from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification and disclosure.
Qualifications
Core Duties/Responsibilities
·         Works with the internal Corporate Investigations team on allegations of unauthorized access to customer information and provides required notifications to state and federal agencies as well as to customers/employees
·         Provides and updates privacy and security clauses for inclusion in contracts
·         Analyzes, maintains, and updates existing privacy policies & procedures
·         Updates/maintains privacy training programs and help conduct privacy training classes
·         Provides guidance and advice to the various business units and assist them in complying with privacy laws and industry standards.
·         Researches changes in privacy laws and regulations and recommends new policy and procedures as necessary.
·         Assists in developing compliance measurement criteria
·         Assists with internal investigations pertaining to potential privacy violations
·         Interfaces with and must be able to effectively work with various business groups across the company
·         Provides comment on privacy legislation
·         Other duties as assigned.
 
Skills & Experience:
·         Experience in managing and developing privacy and consumer, employee and financial data protection programs and policies.
·         Knowledge of state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations
·         Strong computer skills
·         Understanding of telecom and internet technologies desired
·         Privacy training experience
·         Strong project management skills desired.
·         Excellent verbal and written skills.
·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with various levels throughout the company.
 
Education & Experience:
Law degree
At least 3 - 5 years of privacy related experience
Law firm and in-house experience preferred
