SUMMARY

 

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco Legal Division is seeking a highly motivated attorney with five plus years of experience in bank regulatory matters for a temporary assignment of approximately 6 or more months.  As a key component of the nation’s central Bank, the Reserve Bank offers an unusual opportunity for attorneys who want to work in a collegial, challenging, and stimulating environment.  Reserve Bank attorneys serve the legal needs of a unique client and are actively involved in a variety of legal matters, including contracts, corporate governance, banking regulation, litigation, insurance, employee relations, payment system laws, technology agreements, and intellectual property.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Review and comment on bank regulatory applications and notices for banking organizations and individuals to acquire or merge with other banking organizations, to become a state member bank, or engage in non-banking activities.

·         Provide guidance and legal support to Reserve Bank personnel engaged in examinations and inspections of banking organizations

·         Assist the public, both industry and the consumer, in understanding bank regulatory matters and resolve problems, issues, and complaints regarding bank regulatory matters.

·         Act as legal counsel to the Reserve Bank in such matters as are assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Juris Doctor (J.D.) is required

·         5+ years of Banking regulatory experience with an emphasis on bank holding company and affiliate transaction regulations.  Familiarity with consumer financial protection and payments laws is also beneficial.

·         Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident green card with the intent to become a U.S. Citizen

 

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law.  Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.
