Role Summary/Purpose The Counsel, Legal Affairs will provide legal support relating to the development, production and exploitation of advertising and other sponsored content for the NBC Universal Television Group. The position will focus on advertising and marketing, including production of custom-produced ads and promotional material, in all media. Essential Responsibilities Legal work involves: * Draft, review and negotiate brand integration, advertising and promotional deals with sponsors, and related agreements; * Negotiate, draft, review and interpret talent contracts; * Review advertising materials for regulatory compliance, guild considerations and intellectual property matters; * Counsel advertising and marketing and other executives regarding legal issues relating to their business. Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications: * Licensed to practice law in California or New York * Minimum 3 years of entertainment, intellectual property, corporate transactions, advertising, litigation and/or other relevant experience within a law firm and/or a corporate law departmentEligibility Requirements: * Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered (note job#: 1158917) * Willingness to work overtime and on weekends with short notice * Must be willing to work in Universal City CA or New York NY * Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation * Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Desired Characteristics * Outstanding academic credentials (high class ranking at top-twenty law school preferred) * Five or more years of legal practice. * Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements and intellectual property law * Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills * Demonstrated strong experience and competency in legal practice relating to advertising and marketing, including: negotiating and drafting business transactions, intellectual property law and regulatory compliance * Outstanding analytic, communication and organizational skills * Excellent leadership capabilities and influencing skills, and strong ability and willingness to work and execute effectively at all levels of a complex organization (including strong partnering and teaming skills) * Sound business judgment, and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change * Demonstrated ability, in a positive and practical manner, to pro-actively identify, prioritize and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively * Candidates will be asked to furnish a copy of law school transcripts as well as a writing sample demonstrating the ability to analyze and present complex issues in a clear manner |
