Role Summary/Purpose

This position will be a key member of the executive management team for the Clinical Data Services business. This key role will be responsible for providing strategic legal support related to this dynamic business segment of GE Healthcare IT, Clinical Business Solutions. The person in this role will be expected to be a core team member in an innovative growth business, leveraging compliance and legal efforts to support and drive growth.
Essential Responsibilities

This position will work closely with the business team to develop legal templates and processes for new business and commercial models, working with the business to translate new Healthcare IT legislation and regulations into market leading business models, and structuring, negotiating and closing of highly structured commercial alliances with key strategic partners and customers to achieve key business objectives. Additional responsibilities will include: the structuring, negotiating and closing of high stakes development , analytics and licensing deals, data hosting arrangements, global ventures, advising on cutting edge legal issues being raised by the acquisition and use of clinical data and electronic medical records in a regulated environment, advising the business on regulatory, privacy, data security, antitrust, intellectual property and advertising/promotional matters, supply chain matters, assisting the business in structuring partner programs and defining legal strategies and policy for exciting novel legal issues being raised by the use of financial and clinical data . We are looking for this key member of the business to join our team in either our Barrington, IL, Boston, MA, Charlotte, NC or Princeton, NJ offices. The position will report to the General Counsel of GE Healthcare IT.
Qualifications/Requirements

1. JD (or equivalent) from top law school

    * Active bar membership
    * Minimum 7 years of business law experience at a premier law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to high impact commercial transactions (i.e. purchase, sale and distribution agreements)
    * Previous experience in healthcare industry transactions and regulations (Anti-Kickback, HIPAA and Medical Device or Pharma)
    * Demonstrated experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment
    * Experience related to data privacy, clinical trials, and healthcare data informatics including secondary use of data and compliance and research policy development
    * You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background
    * You must be willing to take a drug test
    * You must be legally authorized to work in the United States at our office located in either Barrington, IL, Boston, MA, Charlotte, NC or Princeton, NJ offices.

Desired Characteristics

1. Previous pharmaceutical industry experience, minimum 3 years

    * CRO industry or other non-clinical trial research experienc
    * Previous FDA or HIPAA experience.
    * Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (including our field sales force and GEHC's customers' senior leadership teams).
    * Ability to function as an integral member of both the GE Healthcare Clinical Data Services leadership team and the GEHC Global Legal function, as well as effectively leverage outside counsel
    * Ability to work well independently and in a team setting, and should possess superior analytical and drafting skills, the ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively and to make on the spot risk calls
    * Ability to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast paced environment
    * Ability to oversee outside counsel when brought in to assist
    * Experience drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions.
    * Experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment.
    * Experience providing legal advice regarding novel and unprecedented legal issues in emerging healthcare market segments.
